London to Brighton Veteran Car Run
London to Brighton Veteran Car Run from approximately 7.30am in the church car park.
We are an unofficial pit stop but look forward to welcoming cars, people and spectators.
Watch the cars getting topped up with water and the passengers and drivers having a break…
We shall be blessing the people on the veteran car run with bacon sandwiches and hot drinks.
We will also be welcoming spectators who enjoy being able to get close to these old cars.
Please note that there will only be parking for the Veteran cars in the church car park
In 2023:
We counted 135 vehicles, including veteran pedal cycles.
Many thanks to everyone who supplied us all with tea and bacon sandwiches today. We all had a wonderful time at the church. It is such a welcome, friendly, well organised stop for us all, whatever the weather. I hope you all got to meet Andy Green the current Land speed Record holder who had popped in for refreshments.
We are all looking forward to next year. P
Dear All
Just a brief note to thank you for your hospitality on Sunday – your provision of a hot drink, a bacon sandwich and the use of the ‘loos’ is so very welcome after a very early start on a cold morning !
At least this year we didn’t come into the Church dripping wet !
We shall hopefully see you again next year and thank you again
With very best wishes. D
Thank you so very much to all the wonderful people we saw at the church last Sunday. We SO look forward to our stop each year and to receiving such a great, warm welcome. The bacon butties and hot coffee are very very gratefully received - as is the comfort break!
We hope you raised a substantial amount for your funds and look forward to seeing you again next year.
With kind regards. S & D
“I’m just getting in touch to thank you all very much for putting on such a great effort on Sundays run.
It was mine and my passengers maiden run and we didn’t know that your stop existed until my brother pointed it out as we came up to the church! And we’re so glad we stopped.
So I just wanted to say a big thanks to the whole team who were most hospitable to us and helped make our run even more amazing!” H.
In 2022:
Thank you to everyone who welcomed our visitors at a rather wet Veteran Car run 2022 – 100 visiting vehicles, including 3 Victorian pedal cycles. A whole team made this possible and all the visitors said how welcoming it was and that we are the best pit stop!
Some of the comments we received:
"As someone on the run, I'd like to say a huge thanks to all at Christ Church. It was our first time and a most welcome surprise to happen upon you."
"I thoroughly recommend popping over to the "pit stop" at the church, we did this the year before Covid and it was joyous."
"I just wanted to thank you and everyone at the Church for the refreshments and respite from the rain on Sunday. I cannot tell you how welcome it was and I know everyone was so, so grateful to be able to come in for your hospitality.
I do hope we didn't leave too much of a mess and drips everywhere. What awful weather it was."
"As usual, your community was exceptionally welcoming. I cannot tell you how welcome your stop always is in our primitive cars, not least on a day as wet and cold as Sunday was!"
"I was a very, very wet participant on the London to Brighton Run, driving a red Albion car with my friend. We dribbled our way across your floor and were so very pleased to take on a bacon bap (special gluten-free for me, thanks, ladies!) and drink a cuppa, then use your facilities.
Apologies for the damp floors we left behind; it was some effort that you went to on our behalf. I do hope that you enjoyed having us along. Your congregation were demonstrating true Christian values of welcome and inclusion, with food for all."
